Doing A Couple Of Small Mods To My BMW E46
Nice review! I bought a 320i touring off our plumber a year ago. Had to spend nearly a few grand on it eventually, but I’d agree, it is a lovely drive and you do feel like you’re in a proper car. Enjoy!
Thanks 😁. I love mine don't get me wrong but I think the touring are a lot cooler than the saloons. I think that bit of practicality of a touring goes a long way.
I just used a piece of waxed thread used to stitch leather. You can lift the badge slightly to get the thread behind and then 'saw' through the adhesive tape.
Nice show
It was a really good turn out
Get an old cheap laptop for your garage. The best way to deflate the bags is definitely through a service function on DIS or ISTA (maybe even INPA, haven't checked if it has it) software.
What is the sizes of the belts?
I'm not sure to be honest, all I did was went to my local auto factor and they just asked how many ribs the belt was because it comes up with 2 options
Much better looking bumper that
Thanks 😁 I think it's a night and day difference
We have a 316ti compact m sport going for cheap 1.8 140k with a mot in silver
I wish I had the money and space for more german cars 🤣
I couldn't remove the disc, it was stuck. Is it even allowed to hammer that hard?
They are sometimes a nightmare and you have to release all your demons on the disc with the hammer
thank you! Great idea, I'll do that to mine little mk4
No problem 😊
How many Miles were on the car when the bag went out?
I think about 170k if I remember correctly
@@gazza9919 Nice! Thanks. I have 142K miles on mine and wanted to do this as a preventive maintenance. I've seen a lot of people on youtube with around 170K to 200K when they go out. I wonder if its miles or time that kills the bags. I think I have a few more miles regardless. Thanks for the info and the video!
Ford night most of the coverage was none fords
I can't just go to this without having a look at what else is there
But you don't show how you wear it
I still haven't got used to the rear windscreen wiper 🙄
I liked the one shaped liked a man at 0:30 and 0:54
🤣🤣🤣
Good vid❤
Thank you 😁
Thank you
Not a problem. It was a absaloute pleasure
Amazing video I was there my self , blue focus st with big wrc on back
Thanks mate and I loved it. Had to include it in the video 😁
Very nice vid lots of nice fords
Thank you 😁
Nice vid
Thank you 😁
I had one of the older versions 2001 best car ever, sadly sold it lat year due to living in London and being charged ulez etc.
Yeah that ulez is just one big scam
Can’t believe I go for the first time not long ago and now it’s closing down. Thanks for the helping getting the bolts!
It's typical isn't it, hopefully we can find another decent one soon and it's not a problem. It was a experience with that sketchy setup that's for sure
closing scrap yards is part of forcing you into an ev no parts for ice vehicles
Yeah scrap yards like this are definitely becoming a dying breed
It's a shame they are closing. I first went here in 1977 ish with my dad.
It really is. It's insain to think it's been there that long. Ideally it would be nice to be taken over by someone who wants to continue using it as a scrap yard but I bet it will more than likely have houses built on it. That seems to be the go to thing nowadays.
I had the 1.9 (150bhp) automatic that went through disc pads far to quickly. Mpg was nowhere near advertized. Otherwise great car.
To be fair I wouldn't have minded owning the 1.9 deisel. The 1.8 petrol was okay but just a little too thirsty
Do not over tighten the blue and red hose nuts because the valve body is plastic and you will strip the threads in the body. My E61 is a 2008 model but newer models may have been modified by BMW. I have an AUTEL MK808 which may have an air suspension deflation function . Good video and go easy on those spanners when doing the hose nuts up.
Thank you for the advice 😁
It's nice to see that you want to change something, but unfortunately it's the wrong way. Are there no self-help workshops near you? You should use compressed air and a compressed air needle to remove the rust as best you can and then degrease it before you think about rust converters. What you've done won't work... It would also be better to use tools to first remove anything that bothers you so that you can get to the rust more easily. Unfortunately that's nothing... Above all, the rust was only polished and not removed. CSD discs or, as I said, compressed air needles are better.
Unfortunately I'm on a tight budget and am limited to what I can do although it won't stop it I'm rather confident that it will slow it down. I do massively appreciate the advice though and if I find myself in a better financial situation in the future I will definitely go down the route that you have suggested
Get rid of the music, man ,it's psychotic.
Yeah I think with how bad revenue friendly music is getting silence would be better
I hate rust😂 Nice video and great work. These spots always rust so fast...even after treating
Same and thank you, hopefully that's the last of it in those areas 😁
Nice to see the fiesta made an appearance 😂
Yeah it hasn't been in for a while so I thought I'd let it shine 🤣🤣
What primer did you use, how has the paint held up, any peeling off?
Just used some halfords gray plastic primer and there seems to be no signs of pealing atall
how often do they need to be changed ? i got my car 50k km ago and changed them but idk when again
Usually I say about 30k miles but sometimes they can go sooner. Just check it every 3-6 months and make sure there is no perishing, chips or cracks on the belt.
Interesting that you have to break your way in to access the top bolts. Good video!
Yeah I don't think there is any other way
The pause at 0:29 as you move had me cracking up 😂
Your driving over the white lines 😱
Great video, one question, the indicators, are painted black from the inside or outside? thanks :)
Thank you and they are painted on the outside with tint spray 😁
@@gazza9919 Oh okk, thank you very much, you have helped me a lot wit your videos (I have a 2001 Fiesta to)😁
@@Eleirbag69 honestly love hearing that my videos have been useful to someone and I miss mine, there wicked cars.
@@gazza9919 I'm happy to hear this and I'm sorry you had to get rid of your fiesta, certainly after all the effort to fix/modify it, anyway yes they are really reliable cars with quite strong and powerful engine, yesterday I bought the new right headlight and today I have to remove the glass so I can darken the orange part (already done the left one)
An honest try so thanks for the video. I'm going to try it myself soon so fingers crossed. ps. don't close the boot lid with your keys still inside. Obvious really but i did it whilst trying to fix something else. DOH!
Thank you and yeah it may seem daft to close the boot with your keys in but I think we're all guilty of doing silly things at some point in our life
Great video this !
Thank you 😁
Just filled my fuel tank, leaking in same place, common problem.
I’ve just got one a 2009 plate 1.9 diesel tdi auto I’m loving it
This the same for the E60 2003 530D?
Should be. At a guess I imagine the only real difference between the 525 and the 530 would be the piston sizes. If anything will be different it could be the crank pully but I imagine a quick google search will tell you if it's bigger or not.
@@gazza9919 sweet, doing this today. Mine snapped off while driving. When I lost power steering knew exactly what happened. 300K on the clock. 😇
All done thou my ac compressor ..the small belt had a tensioner. So 4pk860 didn’t fit ffs 🤦 😂 always something different
@@BobBenz55 always the case with cars 🤣
Thank you 🙏
Not a problem, happy to help 😁
you got better tools then me lol good video
Thanks mate. I learnt the hard way first and though, that's why I had to say sod it and get something decent 🤣
Mine does work but it is temperamental when changing my phone. It'll disconnect if slightly nudged. Any idea what this could be?.
At a guess it might be worth looking at it and seeing if it's got cigarette ash in it from the cigarette lighter. Give the contacts a wipe and if the issue still occurs then check the connection underneath. If you still cant find a issue then you might be better off just replacing the barrel as it's quite easy to get to.
Thanks for the video, had exactly the same and it was skuttle drain for me as well. Rectified with the help of this video. Cheers!
Really happy to hear it helped 😁
Would it be easier to remove/install the compressor belt by first loosing the serpertine belt tensioner?
one mistake u jave made with this car is… triple qx oil..
My bfs one has packed up completely it struggles to work in between 3/4 then stops working completely will it work properly if we change it
It's should do yeah. It's seems to be quite a common problem on these
@@gazza9919thanks
Bob on thanks
Not a problem 😁
Thank you for sharing your 'how to put on mud flaps' on your ford fiesta 'Norman'. I have ordered a full set from Amazon £4.99 each. Just waiting for them to arrive. And hopefully when I've received them the weather is nice 21/2/24. Hope Norman is still running strong pal..
Thanks for the comment mate. Unfortunately I haven't got him anymore but he is still on the road with a good owner 😁
Omg now many armchair mechanics can you have in one comments section, jeez, give him a break. Good video what model is that focus as my 09 1600 petrol has drums?
Thanks mate, it's a 58 plate 1.8 deisel
